You likely read about this one in Crain’s last week, but I guess I might as well lay claim to the deal. While this house was built in 2011 or 12, my introduction to this property was made in the early 1990s when a car dealer from Belvedere, Illinois owned the home that then occupied this site. I was 15 when my dad helped me strike a deal to buy my first truck. A 1984 Dodge D150 would be mine for $1500 (all the money I had at the time), and two summers worth of mowing this lawn. The owner shared photos of the truck I’d receive- a white two wheel drive pick up with steelie wheels and decals from the auto dealership on the sides. When the time came to receive the truck the owner had removed the decals, waxed the truck, and installed four new American Racing mag wheels. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Later, when driving with my younger brother one evening to fish the then brand new boat piers in the Bay, I smashed into a Fiero on Walworth Avenue and put a nice dent in the front passenger quarter panel of the truck, a dent that remained until the day I sold the truck several years later. What a great truck, and an even better memory.
This sale, with a transaction value in the low $8s, continues a nice run at the lake of $8-9M sales. This one, like the last sale that I closed on Sidney Smith, occurred off market. These sales are creating a meaningful pattern of value that, at this point, should be considered here to stay. I’m grateful to this buyer for allowing me to represent them in this purchase, and am excited for their family and the summer they’re about to enjoy.
