Folly Lane Sells

There are streets around this lake that have been uniquely good to me. Bonnie Brae has treated me favorably over the years, as has Snake Road. North Lakeshore Drive and South Lakeshore Drive has been benevolent as well. But Folly Lane has been a standout, if not for the number of transactions but for the transactions themselves. I’ve sold the same homes multiple times, not because owners are dissatisfied with the Lane but because life changes and sometimes the next home needs to be larger, or smaller, or more expensive, or maybe less. It’s because life happens and I’ve been there to help people figure out whatever might be next. Folly Lane has seen this movement over my 30 years of selling here, and I’ve been proud to represent the best that Folly has to offer.

My most recent sale is this sexy contemporary home. It was a quiet deal, kept under wraps for nearly this entire year. It was an off market deal that I facilitated, which if you read the real estate headlines, is still a sore spot in the brokerage world. “YOU HAVE TO LIST A HOME ON THE OPEN MARKET TO FIND ALL OF THE BUYERS”, the agents without buyers scream. This might be true in large markets where buyers are varied and someone in China might be a buyer or someone from Russia or someone from Rancho Sante Fe. But in Lake Geneva the buyers are largely known, and private deals make a whole lot of sense if you’re the agent who knows the vast majority of the buyers. The benefit for the seller is many months of quiet, instead of many months of speculation, shore path gawkers, driveway trespassers, and neighbor chatter.

For this deal, I was happy to facilitate a deal for a wonderful seller and a wonderful buyer. The trust that my clients and customers place in me is something that I do not consider lightly. In fact, it keeps me up at night more often than you’d guess. But at the end of the day, a seller sold and a buyer bought. What’s not to like? $20,000,000, closed.
