The Boat Ride

It’s just a boat ride you’ll say. Something nearly every one of us has done at one time or another. But if it’s just a boat ride, why does it mean so much to me? Is a pontoon boat ride on the Chain the same as a boat ride on Geneva? Not to me, but for some it might be similar. My brother in law and his family were in town for the weekend, so I spent this weekend doing what it is that I’m the best at- enjoying Geneva Lake. We took boat rides, we played golf (don’t ask how my back feels this morning), we hung out at Gordy’s, we missed the Lobster Boil (I was working), and we fished off the pier. For a few minutes I donned a scuba mask and scoured the lake bottom near the pier in hopes of finding one of the $100 bills that some guy had lost out in front of the pier the day before. I forgot to add this to my boating tips from a couple weeks ago, but please don’t go tubing with your wallet in your pocket. It was an all around glorious weekend, filled with fun and sun and waves and rock bass, and it was just the sort of weekend that smart vacationers experience every weekend. If you tell me you went to a mall this weekend, I’m definitely going to be sick…

The Dive

As I drove around the lake, finding that sweet spot on the speedometer just above plane, I took in the lake as I have thousands of times before. The change in the scenery is always fascinating to me. The newly renovated homes, the new construction of course too, and the change in landscaping and plantings that are so easily visible from the boat. Some things remain exactly the same, others are in a constant state of change. One thing that is certain, the site of blooming hostas along the shore path always fits my eye. Our Saturday morning ride was thoroughly enjoyable, as we got out before the traffic and wind both increased. The activity along the lakefront is magical to me, the sights and sounds of children playing on the pier while their parents read a newspaper and drink coffee. I was particularly pleased when I saw someone reading a New York Times. Dan Gross, eat your heart out.

The Rock Bass

While I normally spend my weekends working, this weekend “off” reminded me what it is that I’m selling here. I’m selling sticks and nails indeed, but I’m selling the lifestyle here that just can’t be appreciated without trying it first. If you’re contemplating a purchase here but just can’t understand how it would affect your life, why don’t you take me up on my boat ride offer. Get out on the water a little and enjoy yourself. It will change your life, but there’s no way to understand how until you give it a try. See you at the lake.

I'm David Curry. I write this blog to educate and entertain those who subscribe to the theory that Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is indeed the center of the real estate universe. When I started selling real estate 27 years ago I did so of a desire to one day dominate the activity in the Lake Geneva vacation home market. With over $800,000,000 in sales since January of 2010, that goal is within reach. If I can help you with your Lake Geneva real estate needs, please consider me at your service. Thanks for reading.
