Well, my 17th issue of Summer Homes For City People is finished. You should be able to find it around the lake this weekend, although the rainy day today is putting a bit of a damper on my delivery efficiency. I started this magazine on a whim in 2010, and now I’m a prisoner to it. If I stop printing it, then it’ll seem like I lost. Or retired. Or was fired. And so I print, at least for an another couple of years. It’s a burden to me now, but I do hope you like it.
This weekend there’s really only one job. It’s to tell people who say “happy” Memorial Day Weekend that they shouldn’t be happy about a memorial. This is a somber weekend, where we should reflect and remember the great sacrifice that those more selfless than ourselves have offered up to a most noble goal of making, and keeping, this country free. It’s a chaotic world we live in, but I know that I wouldn’t like to live it anywhere but right here. God Bless America, indeed. See you around the lake, and welcome to summer.
