There’s something every coffee commercial has in common. Know what it is? You’re right. There are myriad things that coffee commercials have in common, but there’s one thing in particular that is a mainstay of the brew at home coffee market. It’s the closed eye shrug. You’ve seen it a thousand times, the lady waking up in the morning with sunlight streaming through her home in a way that can only be replicated in a studio. She brews some coffee, and takes that first, obviously delicious sip. She cradles the cup in both hands, pulls it to her mouth like it’s a bowl of soup and she’s been in Ethiopia for seven weeks, and sips. At the moment of the sip, she closes her eyes, and shrugs her shoulders upward like she’s just been tickled under the arch of her bare foot. You know that move now? Well that move might be common in coffee commercials, but it’s also as close as I can get to describing the way that lazy boatrides on Geneva make me feel.
I talk about boatrides often, and it’s not, as some readers have graciously pointed out, because I’m bragging. It’s because I want you to experience what I get to experience nearly every sunny summer and fall day. I want you to have the chance to live the life that I’ve been so fortunate to live. I want you to realize that a purchase of a Lake Geneva vacation home is more than just the bricks and mortar, it’s the lifestyle that the purchase lets you more easily accomplish. Remember when I wrote that September is the best month of the year at Lake Geneva? Well it was more true this year than any other year I can remember. We had sunshine and warm temps just about every day last month, including the day captured on video, which was deliciously sunny and a balmy 79. The water was calm, and perfectly swimable. Swimming in September is beautiful, but if you chose to vacation at colder, less hospitable lakes like Michigan or Green Lake, you won’t share in my love of September swimming since your disappointing lakes of choice weren’t nearly as warm as Geneva was on that glorious day.
I’m always trying to open your eyes to the undebatable fact that it you can afford a summer home here, you should indeed purchase a summer home here, and I’m keenly aware that boatrides are one of the best things about such an ownership situation. It’s in that awareness that I continually try to capture photographs that might hasten your inevitable vacation home epiphany. One day last month, I took my family and a friend out on the boat, and brought along a camera for your video enjoyment. For those of you who have taken me up on my offer of free boatrides, you’ll be quite familiar with the scenery in this video. For those of you who have been too shy to ask, here’s a little taste of what you’re missing.
This is the sometimes bumpy, curt, always enjoyable, route from Angels Flight to Uhleins Creek on the North shore of Fontana. The video might look inviting, but it in no way actually showcases how wonderful these boat rides really are. I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it. Besides, you can trust me, I’m a Realtor. Oh, and I’m aware that the video is a bit shaky, but I’m sure you can understand. It is a boat ride after all.
